  1. It's almost like people think, well, no one's going to be as good as that as me. Well, of course not, because you've been doing it for five years, dickhead. So hand it over in stages and help them be as good as you.

  2. I'm a big believer in taking ownership of all problems. So even if it's not something that's my fault, I will try and find a way to make it my fault because that then gives me the control to be able to deal with it.

  3. But in my example, rather than just saying to the web company, you've made a mistake again, you need to fix it actually acknowledge that no, the mistakes mine, I can fix this. And I fix it by telling you lot to fuck off and finding someone better.

  4. If I fuck up, you have to tell me. I want you to tell me. I'm not going to say who the fuck do you think you are. I'm the boss, etc.

  5. And I think when I say that that sort of stayed with me, it's almost like I put those links in there to be a good manager, to be a good leader within a team, especially a sales team. You have to be a wanker. Yes, that was essentially it.

  6. I mean like I've lost count of the amount of companies that I go into and on their wall they've got innovation. Yeah. Forward thinking. It's like fuck. It's not a thing. It's almost like they're moving to an office and these quotes are already there. Should we just leave them there? Yeah. Google wannabe starter pack. You can buy it off Amazon and you just stick it on the wall. We're innovative. Yeah. We're forward thinking. We are co-op funeral parlour.

  7. Where I had a really good example of where you could see where this wasn't working is, you know, speaking with the CEO of a company, which I'm not going to name. And, you know, like when I explain to this process, it's like, yeah, I've tried that. But whenever I get any ideas from people, they're all rubbish. So I just tell them. So it's like, you know, so we all laugh about it. Like, you know, how rubbish their ideas, you know, like now we don't get any more ideas. It's like, well, that's your fucking problem right there.

  8. There are some really good, enthusiastic leaders out there that are fantastic and they'll show up and they'll be there all the time like, hey, everything's fantastic. But the second the shit hits the fan, they're locked away in their office. And everyone's like, oh, like panic stations because Paul's not speaking to me today. We know something's wrong. The really, really, truly great leaders are the people that still show up but can actually still navigate through the storm as well as the calm seas. I think that's the difference.
