  1. And they're like, oh, well, we don't need to do any marketing. So we get all our business from word of mouth. And I'm like, well, that's brilliant. How do you get more people to talk about you? And then they, you know, they look at me like an idiot. And I'm like, well, hang on, you're telling me the thing that puts kind of food on your plate is other people talking about you. Yet you haven't got a process to even try and control that.

  2. So test it and measure it and measure, you know, how many people you physically said thank you with, but don't necessarily do it with, you can't then follow up and say, hang on, dickhead. I sent you a fucking Christmas card. You've not bought from us again. That's not how it works.

  3. basically, so this guy comes in and he says, my friend wants to go cycling with me, so I need a couple of bikes. I need one for on the road and one for off the road. And in about 20 minutes later, this guy had walked out spending around six grand... Jesus. ...on two bikes. And that's when it kind of made sense, because you think, you've got this shop, it's like you said before, it is very Apple set up. It's beautiful bikes. The tech in there is very interesting, so you can design your own bikes. It's all very that. And it struck me, this is not a bike shop for cyclists. This is a bike shop effectively for non-cyclists.

  4. I'm not the only person in the world. I am very aware of that. Although sometimes. Are you? Well, not all the time. Mate, in your house, the lights turn off when you're not there and turn on as you arrive. That's. Your poor family's sitting in darkness and you're in the room.

  5. I always use the line, actually, strangely enough, in my, if I do a discovery call with somebody, I'll get to the end and say, regardless or not, or whether you think I can help you grow your business. If you're sat here and you're thinking you're a dick, then just don't work with me because it doesn't get any better. This is exactly how I am. It doesn't get any better. Like, you know, I'll call you out on things. I'll say things how it is. I'll get excited and I'll swear and all the other stuff. And that's just how I work. So if you're sat there thinking, you know, yeah, it could probably make me some money, but it's a bit of an idiot. Yeah. I'm not the choice for you. It reminds me of my proposal to Amy. It doesn't get any better. It's kind of this or nothing.

  6. But now, you know, some dickheads are, you know, railing on about it on a podcast or that's going on social. You think, it's just a horrible way of doing it. And I think, you know, this, I think we had every talk before, like integrity, like being able to, you know, does it pass the mirror? I think you've said the mirror, is it the mirror test? Yeah, does it pass the mirror test? Can you look at yourself in the mirror and say, I'm really sorry we didn't deliver this service. But instead of charging for what we said we'd do, why don't you write us a review? If not, it's $500. You think, that's just horrible.
